The Short Inka Trail is designed for travelers who want to experience the magic of the Inca Trail, without committing the time needed for one of the longer multi day hikes. This trek is great for families with children as it is only one day of hiking, about 7 hours total. Along the route you will witness all the beauty of our flora and fauna as well as visit some of our most cherished inca ruins, including Wiñaywayna inca site. And most importantly, the hike ends walking through the Sun Gate with the most spectacular view of Machu Picchu Archeological site from above for your first glance. You will head back inside the ruins on your second day to explore the mystery and history as you walk around with your My Tour In Peru Expeditions guide.

DAY BY DAY SHORT INCA TRAIL 2 DAYS/1 NIGHTS
Day 1|Km 104-Chachabamba-Wiñaywayna-Sungate-Machupicchu
The hike starts on the same path as the Classic Inca Trail. You’ll be immersed in the stunning landscape as you’re surrounded by lush vegetation and towering mountains watching over you. After a short while, we’ll reach our first Inca archaeological site on the trek, Chachabamba, and learn a little about it from our guide.
After another 3 hours, we get to one of the most fascinating Inca sites, the Wiñaywayna complex (meaning ‘forever young’ in Quechua) that sits at 2,650 m / 8,694 ft. Most trekkers who stop here are amazed by the incredible architecture. You’ll explore the site and discover a ritual water source, temples dedicated to nature’s forces, and beautiful agricultural platforms. Wiñaywayna is the perfect place to learn a little more about the impressive history of the Incas.
While you’re at these sites, take some time to relax, unwind in peace, and connect to Mother Nature through birdsong and the soft whisper of the wind. A little further on, you’ll spot the campsites where those doing the Classic Inca Trail spend the night. Here, you’ll have time to enjoy the tasty box lunch we’ve prepared for you, chill out, and recharge your batteries.
Once you’re ready to go again, we’ll continue the hike to the Sun Gate, from where you get your first outstanding views of MachuPicchu and all its incredible architecture. You’ll be astounded at how the Incas were able to build such a site on a mountain. The landscape is very dreamy, and you’ll feel the magic and mystery of Machu Picchu that’s withstood the test of time amazingly. Use this opportunity to capture some unique photos and honor the Incas as you ponder how they were able to lift such big stones and try to understand their deep connection with nature.
Day 2|Aguas Calientes-Machupicchu-Ollantaytambo-Cusco
Your tour to Machu Picchu begins with a train ride to Aguas Calientes, the last stop before entering the remains of the most important archaeological site in Peru
You will feel the powerful energy of this fantastic archaeological site as soon as you enter. Happiness will flood you as you observe how the golden sunlight gradually covers every corner of Machu Picchu. You will learn all its secrets and mysteries during a guided tour in which you will also learn a lot about its history and the local flora and fauna. Our guide will take you for two hours through the most significant parts.
If you choose to climb Huayna Picchu Mountain or MachuPicchu Mountain (additional entrance fees required), you should do so by 10:00 am. Otherwise, you can explore further or walk to the Sun Gate or the Inca Bridge. Around noon, you will return to Aguas Calientes by bus.
In Aguas Calientes, you will find a place to have lunch and then board the Expedition train to Ollantaytambo; from there, you will travel to Cusco in our private transportation, and we will drop you off at the door of your accommodation. Your arrival time will depend on the time of your train ticket.

3-star Superior: These are 3-star that should really be considered has 4-star Hotels. Nice location, great rooms and charming decoration. Excellent service, with restaurant, room service, business centre, laundry, etc. Buffet breakfast. Best value. Perect for someone looking for an inexpensive option and still have some superior services.
4-star Hotels: Good location, very nice rooms, great decoration and excellent service. This hotel includes more services such as room service, business center, laundry, spas, more room features, etc. Some have gourmet restaurants. Buffet breakfast. Perfect for someone looking for some luxury and special services and do not need a 5-star option.
LUXURY
4-star Suites: Some 4-star hotels have suites that offer the same room features of a 5-star option. Perfect for someone looking to upgrade from a 4-star standard room and get more space and features.
5-star Hotel: What you usually imagine a 5-star hotel is. Great location, luxury accommodations and excellent service. Gourmet restaurants, spas, room service, business center, etc. Perfect for someone looking for a 5-star service but do not need the 5-star Deluxe option.
